Cognitive biases and decision-making in complex construction projects

The overall research focus is on how cognitive biases affect the higher level decisions being made in complex and unique projects going through different contexts. Only a few studies have taken a look at the unique challenges of complex (construction) projects, e.g. to what extent stakeholders possess the cognitive abilities to account for the complexity of projects, and to what degree their biased understanding of the world is based on a less, and not a sufficiently, representative set of observations and experiences. By better understanding our cognitive limitations as levels of uncertainty increase in projects we should as a result be better equipped to make better decisions.
